A clever monkey outwits a treacherous crocodile to save his heart.
नारायणी नदीको किनारमा एउटा बाँदर बस्थ्यो। उसको साथी एउटा गोही थियो।
On the banks of the Narayani River lived a monkey. His friend was a crocodile.
गोहीकी श्रीमतीले बाँदरको मुटु खान चाहीन्। गोहीले बाँदरलाई ढाँटेर आफ्नो घर लग्यो।
The crocodile's wife wanted to eat the monkey's heart. The crocodile lied and took the monkey to his home.
बिच नदीमा, गोहीले सत्य बतायो। बाँदर नडराई भन्यो, 'मैले मुटु त रुखमै बिर्सेको छु!'
In the middle of the river, the crocodile told the truth. The monkey, unafraid, said, 'I left my heart on the tree!'
मूर्ख गोहीले उसलाई फिर्ता लग्यो। बाँदर रुखमा चढ्यो र बच्यो।
The foolish crocodile took him back. The monkey climbed the tree and was safe.
