How to Learn Nepali Verbs
- Act it out! Use Total Physical Response (TPR) - jump while saying 'उफ्रनु', run while saying 'दौडनु'. Physical movement creates stronger memory connections for kids.
- Learn verbs in context, not isolation. Instead of memorizing 'खानु = to eat', learn the full sentence 'म भात खान्छु' (I eat rice). Sentences stick better than single words.
- Group opposite verbs together. Learn आउनु (come) alongside जानु (go), and खोल्नु (open) alongside बन्द गर्नु (close). Contrast helps retention. See Opposite Words →
- Practice with daily sentences. Use these verbs in actual sentences about your day - what you do in the morning, at school, and in the evening. Practice Sentences →
- Start with just 5 verbs per week. Mastering a few verbs deeply is better than memorizing many superficially. Build slowly and review regularly.
